Imagine that you are a bird,
drifting down over the birch woods,
on a crisp fall breeze,
on a crisp fall breeze,
looking for a branch to land upon and rest.
I am going to let this dry
which shouldn't take more than a couple days.
water-soluble oil paints are very easy to paint with.
I get the same feel as regular oil paint
and I like the way they look as far as color intensity
So far... no complaints
i am feeling very positive about them
and I don't miss the turpentine and linseed oils and....mess!
my hands suffered enough from all those chemicals
These are made by "Winsor and Newton they are made with a modified linseed oil and wash up is simply soap and water easy ... for reals ! |

Kat, this is beautiful. I have really been wondering about the water soluble oils. I haven't read any comments before about them. Maybe I should include a small set on my Christmas wishes list. The colors are bright and beautiful.

i think your birch trees are my favorite thing you create. :)
this is beautiful,, may ask you something, do they smell, the paints, not the trees, lol, I'm not familiar with these, I had to give up oil due to sensitivities to the odour,, I wondered if these were as stinky, even some acurilics now bother me, I miss so much painting the oils and acyrilic, I just love the richness and texture I can achieve with them but my desire to paint is so strong I paint with watercolor only now,
Yes I have tried those paints and love them. Love your trees as well, very intense. Thanks.
Guess I'll have to break down and give them a try too. I look at them when I go to the art supply stores but had had any feedback before now :0)
I love your trees -- beautiful!! I've been curious about those paints, too. Lately, I've been trying to paint with acrylics, but I get so frustrated if I try to do much more than washes. This might be a happy medium.
Wonderfully creative ~ Love your creations! ~ Thanks, namaste, Carol ~ (Share the Creative Journey) Happy PPF ^_^
The colour is really intense, beautiful work!
Your painting is beautiful Kat! I'm so glad you shared about the paint you used ~ I've never used oils, but have admired the look... I'll have to check these out :) Thanks also for the comment on my clip art post ~ I added watercolor to some of the images (they're not uploaded yet, but soon!)... I loved your suggestion of using them as stickers!
Very pretty! I have never used oil paints. For some reason they scare me! :)
I know this type of paint and I find it very interesting, if the result is as good as it looks in your work.Saludos .
You have captured the look of the trees in my backyard on a brisk winter day when the sun is shinning (not too many days in the winter)! Wow!
Loving your wonderful trees and thank you for sharing about the paints. Happy PPF and enjoy the weekend, x
Interesting--do these dry more slowly than acrylics? Love that shade of blue.
thanks everyone Jen - they dry slower than acylics and you can use special oil to extend the dry time.
This one is amazing... I love the texture of the trunks against that blue... really striking... I have just bought my dad a set of water soluble oils for Christmas... they are great aren't they .... happy ppf xx
Your painting is absolutely delicious! I'm excited to hear about the water soluble oil paints, can't wait to check them out. I'm going to have to put them on my holiday wish list!
The water mix are definitely better, I love them You r painting is fabulous, all those highlights, yummy!
so much light in this piece. i love the vibrancy of it--- stunning!
fabulous painting! Thanks for the oil tips, I hate oil paints - the smell makes me sick, but I love the effects you get with them...
Gorgeous birch woods!
I like imagining that I am a bird! :)
Happy PPF!!

Beautiful!! And great description. Those paints sound like they would be fun to try!
How beautiful! If I were a bird I would certainly enjoy your trees and that gorgeous blue sky.
I meant to ask the very same thing Laurie asked above. Do these paints have an odor? I have Multiple Chemical Sensitivity (MCS) and had to give up oils years ago. It would be wonderful to have the feel of oils on my brush and canvas again.
This is wonderful- I Love all the texture and depth of color that you get with oils- this is just so lush!
Happy Paint Party Friday (a day late;))

P.S. You've got me tempted to try these oils....
Yes, if I were a bird, I'd be thrilled to see one of your forests of birch.
I'm glad you are liking the water soluble oils, I've always wondered about them.
Kat,
Your painting is stunning! I am in awe of anyone who can create something so beautiful. I'm still stuck in the stick figure phase. I have thought about some lessons, though.
I love that I am finding new products and that you have already tried them out and give me the tips before I mess up. Thanks so much. I am enjoying your 'training' immensely. Blessings, Janet PPF
