Paint Party time August 30th 2012

Happy Friday
I hope everyone has a nice three day weekend planned
I will be traveling and visiting loved ones
I will be running away from Isaac
although by the time the once hurricaine Isaac
gets up into our part of the country
it will only be a windy thunderstorm
and maybe lots of gray clouds for  Labor Day

Here is my work in pprogress for this past couple days
I continue to paint pears and to get ready for the Art  Festival

I seem to be in love with the pears

This painting is taken from a memory of the Lake Huron Home
that my grand parents had long ago
I am still working on getting it right and developing it  further
I just bought some oil pastels to perhaps use ontop of the oil paints
does anyone see any reason not to?
... or have any experience in using oil pastels
along with or mixed in with oil paint or acylic paints ???
let me know if I am able to do this
I could use a little friendly advise

I had a thing going for painting pears a while back, I understand completely, such beautiful work, and I also love the Lake Huron painting, Lake Huron is just down the shroe from me, its a beautiful shore, very different all the way along, some are weedy, some rocky, some sandy, just a beautiful shore,I hope you are well,

Your pears are amazing. I'm wondering if they are done from memory or do you constantly go out and buy pears to pain. I love the lake painting. I don't know why the oil pastels wouldn't work with the oil paints. I don't know about the acrylics, though. Hope Isaac misses you completely.

I love seeing the explosion of art in your work area, or should I say "play" area. The pears look great! I hope you are safe from wind and rain damage. I think you can use oil pastels with acrylics, but I don't know about with oil paints. It would seem you could use them underneath?

Beautiful scene from the lake. It's off to a great start! I don't see why you couldn't put oil pastels over oil paint. Perhaps even over acrylic, but I'm less sure of that.

Great work on pears ~ very colorful, creative and expressive ~ believe you can use oil pastels with oils ~ if you choose to ~ try a sample on some paper and see what you think ~ (A Creative Harbor)

Love your Lake Huron painting!

what luscious pears! absolutely love the motion of the ocean too - we've been keeping tabs on that hurricane too! but then we went travelling and lost track - hope allw as OK!

Wonderful pears!! And I love the Lake Huron painting. I would make sure the oils were dry before adding the pastels or you will smear all your good work, and the pastels don't tend to "dry" either, so you will need to add something over them.

Sorry, I meant Lake Huron. :)
First few weeks back at school has worn me out! ;)

Love the golden warmth of your pear paintings. Your landscape is great, your brushstrokes bring Van Gogh to mind.

The pears are so pretty and have the colors of fall! I love the painting of the lake, too! Enjoy the holiday weekend! Hope you're not getting stormy weather!

Isaac was nasty and I hear he's coming back this weekend for more. . . we can't catch a break. The painting is delightful. I am in love with it. I look forward to your letting me know what you did finally use and how it turned out. Love experimentations. Blessings, Janet PPF
