Paint Party time August 30th 2012

Happy Friday
I hope everyone has a nice three day weekend planned
I will be traveling and visiting loved ones
I will be running away from Isaac
although by the time the once hurricaine Isaac
gets up into our part of the country
it will only be a windy thunderstorm
and maybe lots of gray clouds for  Labor Day

Here is my work in pprogress for this past couple days
I continue to paint pears and to get ready for the Art  Festival

I seem to be in love with the pears

This painting is taken from a memory of the Lake Huron Home
that my grand parents had long ago
I am still working on getting it right and developing it  further
I just bought some oil pastels to perhaps use ontop of the oil paints
does anyone see any reason not to?
... or have any experience in using oil pastels
along with or mixed in with oil paint or acylic paints ???
let me know if I am able to do this
I could use a little friendly advise

My Bad, My Bad
trying to keep it somewhat clean and neat

I was viewing photos that my DIL  put up on her facebook
and I love this photo of my GD!

Vacationing at Nags Head Beach  enjoying the peacefulness of
Bubble blowing

She sat in a bright periwinkle blue beach chair
which even made it a better picture

I think Blue is my new best color

Pumpkin Time

found this great autumn tablecloth
at the vintage shop in town
for 1.00 !

I have been noticing all the fall decorations
 Loveland is all dressed up
in tall corn stalks and mums and sunflowers
... pumpkins and gourds.
The leaves are changing to yellows and reds
on all the trees and bushes.
I think it is going to be a spectacular Autumn for natures color !
 I'm so excited.
Time to take loads of colorful nature pictures
to inspire us all.

I have a plan to try using the Water Soluble Oil paint
(yes,.. I said that right )
no more harsh chemicals...It is worth trying them, in my mind.
My poor fingers and fingernails are so dried out and abused
from turpentine, linseed oils, and paint thinners.
They are about four dollars more a tube at the local
Micheal's and Hobby Lobby here.
but I figure I'll be saving dollars on the other chemicals,
and helping the earth a bit maybe.

I've been working on pumpkins lately
I found three pumpkin shaped wood pieces at the Goodwill store.
Friday is 50 percent off everything for me  !
( I'm over 50 years old and us old ladies need
something to look forward to on Fridays! )
Thank you Goodwill

I covered the wood shapes in thick modeling paste
and made a pattern in them with a palette knife.

...the leaf is made from heavy paper and painted
and the curly cues are made of copper wire.

the stems are cut from actual pumpkin stems

Think I may add a flower with the stem dangling
from my crow's beak
He wanted to decorate his place too !

check out how to preserve the fall leaves at :

I found the tutorials on leaf preserving

Peace and joy and Happy Pumpkin Time !!!

Update :finished oil painting and some wire stuff

Some Art Updates
and QUESTIONS

I have been working on several projects lately
Getting this oil painting ready to hang in the gallery
for an open house (Art studios night) on Saturday.
I don't know if I should frame it or not.
i don't think i will...but it is still a little wet, to say the least
I want to have a safe way to handle it
so i may temporarily frame it with a simple frame
and spray it with temp sealant

A few Questions for you All

24 by 36 inch oil painting
 would you frame this?
what color frame if you would?
what price range should i shoot for on this?
added some white to the sky

I am also playing around with wire
do you like these shapes for jewelry

Could you see these metal swirls as a pendant
with maybe a bead or two added and a simple chain???
it is just steel wire that i flattened and twisted
should i add metallic or gold leaf paint?
should i just buff it with my dremel and sandpaper or wire brush?

Thank you for your artistic and sincere opinions
Hugs

yellow flowers

This is an oil painting I did
from a photo a friend took.
I decided to do it in the palette knife style,
which I enjoy playing around with.

It is now framed and hanging in the studio gallery area i hope to sell it
but it may just be the wrong time of year for a flower painting
we shall see

Happy Autumn

Oil Painting in the Works

Happy Friday
here is the status of my oil painting of the birch trees
for my sister.
oil painting of birch trees

start with Blue painters tape
on the areas of the tree trunks
and paint in the sky

palette knife used
to fill in the trunks and the foreground foliage

my sister would like a cardinal somewhere in here too
my first attempt failed
do you see where I rubbed it out ?

almost done
I think
I still want to add a cardinal sitting in the trees
slightly afraid i will ruin it though
Trying to get my nerve up
to finish this painting for my sister.

wish me luck  and bravery
Happy PPFriday
