Fall-ing Leaves

"Fall-ing Leaves"  pastels and oil paints that are water soluble work well together

making small paintings on canvas paper then cut them out and mount onto wood

very thinned oil paint of leaf shapes
I used wood glue to attach the canvas to wood blocks

oil pastels to give shades of color  - using my finger-tip to smear the color together

I may hang them in a chained together form like falling leaves

Like this

this one looks nice just setting on the mantle

Paint Party time August 30th 2012

Happy Friday
I hope everyone has a nice three day weekend planned
I will be traveling and visiting loved ones
I will be running away from Isaac
although by the time the once hurricaine Isaac
gets up into our part of the country
it will only be a windy thunderstorm
and maybe lots of gray clouds for  Labor Day

Here is my work in pprogress for this past couple days
I continue to paint pears and to get ready for the Art  Festival

I seem to be in love with the pears

This painting is taken from a memory of the Lake Huron Home
that my grand parents had long ago
I am still working on getting it right and developing it  further
I just bought some oil pastels to perhaps use ontop of the oil paints
does anyone see any reason not to?
... or have any experience in using oil pastels
along with or mixed in with oil paint or acylic paints ???
let me know if I am able to do this
I could use a little friendly advise

Paint Party Friday Post- Cincinnati

Happy Friday

Painting a few new canvases this week
The  Mason/ Deerfield Art Alliance Fall Art Show
is coming up very soon and I think
I will be ready enough to be comfortable with my display
 of my works
...but I am sure next year will be better for me
I need more experience at these shows

Here is another Cincinnati Riverfront oil painting

I want to keep it impressionistic
...so I guess it's done
What do you think?

Oil Painting - Portrait of Jilly Bean - WOYWW and PPF

Several new oil paintings are in the process

Here is my  work desk
I moved downstairs from my( too hot )upstairs studio room
hubby  is not real happy I returned my paints to the diningroom
My Bad, My Bad
trying to keep it somewhat clean and neat

I was viewing photos that my DIL  put up on her facebook
and I love this photo of my GD!

Vacationing at Nags Head Beach  enjoying the peacefulness of
Bubble blowing

She sat in a bright periwinkle blue beach chair
which even made it a better picture

I think Blue is my new best color

sea scape number II

Softer skies and the sea

I decided to try another seascape

used stiff brushes and a very limited color
blues and greens and a slight  purplish white
 http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-6OJZ2EzEjlQ/UAytLhPaOlI/AAAAAAAAD7s/yFAcgcHHzrU/s1600/IMG_0148.JPG
This is the finished painting from last PPF
I made the skies pretty stormy
but wanted to keep it beautiful
so I used a nice soft purple
and the feel that the storm clouds are giving way to clear skies

So it is Friday and I am linking up to Paint Party Friday

PPF - Pears, the City and a Church

First things first
Here is  my finished painting of the bowl of pears
I painted this from a still life
I love my pretty blue ceramic bowl
don't tell anyone but it has a crack in the back
but I just cannot throw it away yet

oil on canvas - 8 by10

here is the finished Cincinnati painting
I had to touch it up because somehow
it got black smudges on it
I could not get them to clean off
but I like the sky now better
... so it all worked out

hard to get a good photo of this one for some reason

Update on my painting of the
Loveland Presbyterian Church

I am so happy to tell you
that Pastor Stephen Melton really liked it
so much so that he asked to purchase it !
I am so happy it has a happy home to hang in
 and to be appreciated

words in the painting do you see the words Discipleship, Loving, Praying, Caring, Welcome

I was invited to a service last Sunday
as all the loveland artists were
and we all could display our paintings of the  Church.

Pastor Steve talked  about forgiveness
It spoke straight to my heart
It is a hard and an emotional subject for me
but  he lifted my spirit a great deal.

happy weekend my friends

What A week !

Hot Hot Hot

As in temperature and humidity
Friday a hurricane strength storm blew through
 Ohio and Loveland
Blew out the power to our house and many others in the areas
for three sweltering days !!!
I had to retreat to places with power
befor we all went crazy from the heat
My son and husband slept outdoors in the trees
They have hammocks for camping
because of the fact that they camp alot and are boy scouts
I could not bring myself to sleep outside at night
so I slept as close as possible to the open window

Bandit and My son, Ryan

good thing Bandit had a shave recently
It was really too hot for a fire
but fire is somehow a good distraction at night
from having nothing much to do
...and it is comforting in the darkness

notice Bandit is moving away from the heat

I hope everyone has survived the heatwave
 and the storms so far
Oh the power of Mother Nature
How Awesome
