PPF and WOYWW Post of art work

Thanks to all who said nice words
 about my finally
getting into the
 Loveland Art Show
I am working hard to do some new
and colorful happy art works this spring and summer

trying new things
how about you
Do you like to try new techniques with your art or craft?

how about wild animals with courage and beauty
and freedom as an inspiration

We all love our freedom

Do you remember the movie
"Born Free"  ?

can you imagine I am thinking about my four sons as I work?
All courageous, strong, handsome, and I'm so proud of all of them
All in different important stages of their lives.
All making it through ups and downs
The roller-coaster of this life
on this blue and green ball in space!

I love you
 Dave, Joe, Drew and Ryan

PPF- multimedia layered ripped-paper acrylic

I'm working with  papers and gel medium with acrylic paints
the base is made from wood and covered in paper of different textures
I used a photo I took years ago during my sons eagle project
A deer was spying on me so I took it's picture

I have always loved  this photo
Love the woods
and all the creatures there

Then I added more paint to define the leaves

Getting Loose with my painting

It was so hard for me to loosen up , but I think after a few fails-
I have some looseness that I find very pleasant to look at
I am in the middle of watching videos
on multimedia abstract art work with instructor and artist
 Robert Joyner.
He let us be so free and unbound by the stress
of detail and perfection in our painting
here is the first few art works and my attempt to be loose and abstract

Bird Brained Kat - My H Day Haiku -WOYWW - PPF

Happily creating my new thing
Twig- Art

Just call me Twiggy
 (my hump-day-haiku )
***********
birds perch here and there
chirping, hopping, and bobbing
on the golden sticks

I found these
twigs out in the back.
My hubby had trimmed the bushes
and I found the twigs very pretty
even with out leaves or blooms of any kind attached
just a nice line and flow of the bare twigs.
I paper- mache (d) the "trunk"
- painted the twig to make it more durable
- gel super glued the birds on

Friday art- WOYWW and PPF

Happy Last  Friday of February 2013

I am working on my little and big wood-bird art
I plan to try for the third time (year) in a row to be chosen
to attend the local art festival this fall with some of my art
maybe third time is a charm?
Maybe -  Maybe not
I plan to make interesting little mobiles out of the little birds
I also will have birds I carved a bit
and sanded a bit
and textured a bit
and painted a bit.
I'll then put them on natural branch stands of various kinds.
Much work to be done this summer

Here is an art work I've had done for awhile

This is before pastels

This is after adding pastels

I added in some little highlights of color with my pastels

can you see any difference in the before and after
What do you think ?

Tim hangs the artist art works in a little place called
Paxtons -  that is downtown Loveland
Thank you to the owners of  Paxtons
for helping out all the staving artists in town!
They have good food there too By the way...

The corned beef Ruben sandwich is my personal favorite.
