This week has been very busy
would like more birds
I
Am
rushing around
trying to do some,
and get them out fast !
The season doesn't last long
... and it sure sneaked up on me.
I start with a simple bird shape of wood and sand the edges a bit but keep it a little rustic and rough |
paint a base coat of black acrylic |
paint the wing white and the rest any old vintage-y color |
see that big old log and the little dowels ? |
slices of the log thing for bases painted with a watery bronze paint; drilled a hole for the dowel and sign each on on the bottom |
now they can stand up and get a spray coating of clear sealent |
finished |
Happy
"Pretty Golden Leaf - Time "
soon to be
"Where the Heck Did
all those Pretty Leaves go - Time"
and then,
"Get out the Boots and Mittens" - Time
Big Ole Hugs to All !

Hi Kat,
You are so talented! I love your birds with the black and white checkerboard. I saw some of the things in your Etsy shop. Love all those owls.
wow, you are a busy woman, whooo hoo, happy sales!!!
i really think these are cool and 'chic' with the black and white checkerboard wings! :)
Kat,
This was interesting to see your process, and the birds are sweet and see to have a jaunty air about them. :)
I like the owl alot too.

Wow, I love your owl. That is fantastic. Thanks for sharing with WOYWW.
The birds are wonderful and I loved seeing the step by step... you have been busy and the results are great... happy WOYWW xx
They look great in a flock like that! So glad they're selling well.
Your birds are lovely! Came by through a link, Lois.
Those birds are lovely and the owl is stunning. They remind me of a programme I watched last night (Kirstie's Homemade Britain) where she was making birds from crumpled up newspaper and sellotape, then painting and decorating them. I think your owl is better though.
Wow they look gorgeous

I love how you used the black and white checks on the wings of the birds. It's so fun to see all of your creations.
Fab birdies, Kat! Hmmm, I'm sure there's a joke in there somewhere....
Love these birds!
