I am busy
making some little
gift shop items
This is my pile of wood that I will cut
and sand and paint
to use as the backing for my
water colored florals
This is some of the raw sanded wooden boards and little tiny bird shapes. My hubby cuts out the birds and I do all the sanding and painting from there |
Some of the birds I drew up were cardinal -like some are going to be bluebirds and maybe woodpeckers and finches too They are looking very basic here and could be anything |
I painted all the various sizes of boards a creamy color with acrylic paints |
then I painted up some floral water-colored paintings on paper |
These are the basic flower shapes I came up with Just sort of from my mind (imaginary flowers?) |
ink lines added now for definition. I don't know why I tend to leap to the purple and yellow all the time I have to remember to do other colors too maybe some red roses or orange tiger-lilies |
Here is the Bluebird I did a few weeks ago |
Finch I did a few weeks ago |
So If you know where Williamstown, MA. is
and the Williams Inn
the gift shop there is called
"The Mindful Bird"
and Suza is the new owner
she "found" me and my birds
on ETSY a few months ago
and she is offering my folk art in the gift shop now.
I really hope that I can be successful there
in some little way.
Most of my items are only ten
to about twenty dollars which is
about what tourists pay for a gift-y type item, I guess.
We shall see.
I am coming up with more ideas
for other bird items
like a mobile and ornaments
for the holiday season too.
Wish me good luck my friends

...these are really cute! My dad used to cut tiny birds out of wood and polish them up for jewelry. I used to draw up the patterns and give them to him. I always loved them. You little birds reminded me of that.
i admire anyone who can sell their work. i'm always too self-conscious or too worried what others will think. i wish you good luck!
These are delightful! I hope you have great success in selling them.
Absolutely wonderful!
Keep it coming! :)
I love them, I live in MA but not close to Williams. I'm sure you will have lots of success there!
I'm follower #64! Love that you showed the steps to creating these pieces. Congratulations on getting 'discovered'! How exciting!
I haven't heard the Schindler's list theme song in so long. It is so enchanting that is hard not to cry,but I do love it. What a beautiful blog you have.

These look great. You are so very talented.
Those are so precious. Thanks for sharing at my newbie party. Hope you had a great day.
Kat, those are delightful! Adding the little bird on top makes the watercolor even more special. I'm sure the store will sell lots of them!! They're so cute, I'm going to feature them later this week. Hugs, Anne
I love your beautiful watercolors and the bird on top is the perfect touch! ♥
Hi KAT,
I just wanted to stop by and thank you for your kind comments on my recent sister post. How wonderful for you to have 6 sisters. I am sorry to hear about your sister's recent health diagnosis. I will be hoping and praying that she receives the treatment she needs to make her healthy once again.
I must also tell you that I love your artwork and admire your talents. I have a lot of flower and bird things in my house. Two of my favorite things. I love how you paired your wooden birds with the watercolors. I think you will be able to sell them easily.
Very cute! love the touch of the little birds! Thanks for linking up to Share the Love Wednesday--hope you'll be back this week!
