Oil Painting in the Works

Happy Friday
here is the status of my oil painting of the birch trees
for my sister.
oil painting of birch trees

start with Blue painters tape
on the areas of the tree trunks
and paint in the sky

palette knife used
to fill in the trunks and the foreground foliage

my sister would like a cardinal somewhere in here too
my first attempt failed
do you see where I rubbed it out ?

almost done
I think
I still want to add a cardinal sitting in the trees
slightly afraid i will ruin it though
Trying to get my nerve up
to finish this painting for my sister.

wish me luck  and bravery
Happy PPFriday

Thanks for coming by for a visit today. I really like your birch trees and I think a cardinal would look pretty in there. I think the trees are just beautiful.
I scrolled down through your posts, you have a lovely family.
I just wanted to say hi and I will be back to see how your painting comes along.

Great painting. Can you collage the cardinal? I know what you mean about not wanting to mess up!!

Great piece, I love birches, and have 2 in front of my window, which change so beautifully from season to season. Thanks for showing how you made it, too! Greetings from Kaiserswerth in Rhineland, Valerie

Looks wonderful. You could always do a cardinal then collage it on...or do it and copy it on. That way you can get it exact to what you want!!

Kat, this is a beautiful painting. I love birch trees and your painting has this very special mood that I often find with these trees. I liked to see your process - and I can understand your fear of ruining it if you add the cardinal. However, the cardinal would be a delightful touch and sometimes we just have to overcome our fear and just jump in. Easier said than done, I know.

I really enjoyed seeing your process - I always love to get a glimpse of how other artists work! I think your painting is already wonderful, but if you would like to add the cardinal I say, "Go for it!"

This is just stunning! I love how you've just selected the trunks of the trees and they disappear off the top of the painting into the sky. Really really love this piece!
